CAN YOU HELP ME
I have lived the last 40 years of my life without knowing any of my natural
family. I have now made the decision to to trace my roots.
If you think you might be able to help me in any way, no matter how minor any information may seem to you, it could help me piece together my family history.

ABOUT ME
I have since found out that I had an older half brother called Ricardo (Ricky) Johnson and an older half sister called Karen L Johnson who were also handed over to social services in Ipswich when they were weeks old. Both my half brother and half sister were adopted by US Service men and their familys who were posted at Bentwaters and Woodbridge U.S. bases in Suffolk. This is where the trail has run cold. My mother's full name is Lillian (Lily) M Johnson D.O.B. 05/12/29 and her last known whereabouts were in Ipswich in 1961 I do know that she married a man from one of the U.S. bases who's name was Sgt Johnson. My father's name was Stanley Coombes which he changed to Stanley Smith when he entered this country. I have been able to find out that he died in 1969, but he did have a sister who I am eager to trace. Her name is Margaret (I assume she was also named Coombes and changed her name upon entering this country) and I have been told that she moved to Canada in the sixties, but I have not been able to find out any more than that. Other family on his side that I know about are his cousin Joe ? who lived in Ipswich(1977) dad also had a niece called Jackie Coombes she doesn't live in this country.
Due to a recent health scare and my foster mother passing away almost ten years ago, I feel it is now the right time in my life to find any family I might still have.

Johnson who was with the U.S.A.F. at Bentwaters and Woodbridge bases Suffolk in the Admin dpt and was going to Viet Nam after Detroit. She worked as a nurse at St Helen Hospital Ipswich in the early 60's. Sgt Johnson never knew of David. |

| Karen L Johnson | Sister on Mothers Side | D.O.B. 30/11/59 or 03/11/59 two different dates because of the paper work from social services. She also had a different father to Ricardo and myself. Adopted by a U.S. service man and his family ( Mr William and Mrs Carrie Mcnair Griffin who were based at Bentwaters Base in Suffolk 1962 she went to the U.S.A. that year. |

If this was your name back in1977 and you lived in Irving road London I would like to hear from you. I spoke to you on three different occasions the first time you were very nice about my dad after that you became more and more distant from me and put me off speaking to you again. I feel that you were protecting my fathers house for your self which to me was O.K. I don't want anything and have never wanted anything but to find out about my past.
